Read on for suggestions of the best movies for 5 year olds below.
Charlottes Web
Many of us will remember the classic novel of Charlotte's web by E B White from our own childhoods and this movie doesn't not disappoint in its adaptations. 5 year olds will love it and so likely too with adults and older children. It tells the story of a pig called Wilbur who is constantly being saved from becoming "pork scratchings". Firstly a little girl, Fern saves Wilbur from her father's axe when he is the runt of the litter. When Wilbur is sent to live in a barn, he is saved again by a spider called Charlotte who spins smart word filled webs above his pen. A lovely tale that may have adults in tears at the end.
Toy Story 1, 2 and 3
The Toy Story Movie series is possibly the best set of Disney Pixar Movies (with Toy Story 3 being the best in my opinion) and 5 year olds will love them. They make great family films as they appeal to viewers of different ages on different levels. They tell the story of a little boy called Andy and the adventures of his favorite toys including Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Mr Potato Head.
My personal favorite is Toy Story 3 which I saw with my son and husband at the cinema. My husband and I were quite emotional at the end of the film which was very touching. My son was enchanted by the film too.
Disney Pixar Movies
You can't go wrong with most Disney Pixar movies. Kids and their families just love them. Most of the movies are so clever as they work really well for kids and also for adults who can also enjoy them on another level. There are always jokes aimed at the older viewer.
One of my son's favorite Disney Pixar movies is CARS. It tells the story of Lightening Mcqueen, a top racing car who manages to end up in the sleepy town of Radiator Springs. Here he learns about friendship and how relationships with the other characters are much more important than the fame and fortune of being a top racing car. This film will appeal to both 5 year old girls and boys there are both male and female characters to identify with.
Other magical Pixar movies include Ratatouille which tells of a rat's journey to become head chef in a top Paris restaurant.
Up follows the adventures of 78-year-old balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, who fulfills a lifelong dream when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America. But he discovers a stowaway on the trip an 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell.
Stuart Little
This film tells the story of a mouse who is adopted by a human family (the parents are Geena Davies and Hugh Laurie). The film focuses on Stuart's attempt to fit into life with a human family and his big brother as well as the challenges of living with the family cat Snowbell. Stuart falls into danger when some of Snowbell's schemes take a bad turn and an adventure begins.

Care Bear Movies
Many parents will remember the care bears from their own childhood during the eighties when the care bears were extremely popular. However, despite the time that's passed, the care bears still hold lots of appeal for children.
