but i think i should add a few things, from a 12 yr. old point of veiw. :)
DO NOT BUY CLOTHES!!! girls my age are very picky about clothes. including me. :) give them a gift card to their favorite store like Hollister or Aeropostale. (my favorites) but sometimes, they might not like the clothes, and not want to tell you they want to return it, and then they wont wear it, so you just wasted your money. :) happens to me all the time, so i tell my family not to buy me clothes. :)
also, we like technology. like a cell phone, mp3 or ipod, a camera, or a laptop. this can get expensive, i know, but those are things most 12 yr. old girls really like.
and last, we are still turning to teens, so we like that kind of stuff for teens. we are starting to find ourself, and really starting to act like mature girls. i know, i might sound stupid, but its true. and we want to be treated like mature people, so anything that shows your daughter your trust her, get that. :)

I turned 12 last year and got some great presents,All the ideas above are good and I wish I had some of them but I reccomend toys too like build a bears, girls love build a bears cause you get to dress them up. another thing we love is money, it is one of the best presents a kid can get cause you get to buy whatever you want! Most kids hate to get things like jewlery and make up so I would avoid that if I were you. The best presesnt I ever got were a bunny and quinea pig so if you are interested pets would be the coolest present ever!

everything that u said was true but also im picky with clothes and my mother doesnt buy me clothes without me and it gets hard to tell ur family that u dont like the clothes they bought beacause u dont want to hurt their feelings. some girls want to grow up and be more independant and mature. but others want to stay little and try not to dissapoint their parents by growing up (im still undecided ... more likely on the growing up side) i personally would prefer make up because i dont hav any and i would like to expirement. also i would want my own hair straightener because my mother does my hair almost everyday and it gets annoying . and all my other friends straighten their hair by themselves which makes me feel left out. i also like the idea of posters and lamps and stuff like that. also THE FUZZY SOCKS I LOVED.... and ive had a phone since i was 9 and a half and i want a new one so a new phone isnt a bad idea either. also girls like us like to be in style, and to fit in, but somtimes its intimidating to do what everyone else is doing and to be a follower. sometimes girls like us hav to do wut we are comfortbale with and be a leader....

This is correct for most 12 year old girls! Most parent's think they will already know what their daughters will want but in truth you might want to talk to them, if they say I don't know this list is your best bet, if they are pretty girly. If they are not girly then that's really tough of a girly girl like me. With the Holidays coming up soon it would be best to talk to them and look around. Maybe take them to "look around" or "window shop" at a mall or shopping center and if they say they want something, there you go.
I know this is out of some price ranges but last year I got a macbook laptop and a vera bradley case and a little cover that snaps on. I loved it but as I said it may be out of range in the price department, but even a P.C. or any less expensive laptop is a great idea. They also have those cards that you can spend anywhere that you put an amount on and then you could drop them off at the mall with their friends and they can get their own presents! Well, I don't know what your price limit is or what your friend likes, but trust your instincts. Maybe she likes jewelry, so a pretty Tiffany style bracelet would be cool. If she's into makeup she might like somthing from MAC or Sephora because they have super awesome stuff. Does she like to do her hair? Maybe you could get her a flat iron or curling iron, but don't get them at target or some place. Go to a Sally's beauty supply and you can find a professional quality one for around 20 or $30, they last forever. Good luck:))

if some one is sporty ask them who is their fav hockey player and then get them a hockey shirt(doesn't have to be the expensive ones). if more girly she will be happy with a gift card and/or lip gloss (there is cool soda flavoued ones). if gamer get her sims 2 it is epic. i'm telling you sims2 is way better then sims3.if you don't know what to get her get her like a club penguin membership or webkinz. since she probely out grew that (it's ok if she didn't)then get her a ciniplex combo coupon. if none of those are soutable and you don't want to give her money then good luck because i don't think there is anything out there

i am 12 years old and most of these things are true another thing that most mom get there daughter is a mother daughter journal that talks about puberty and others stuff. some girls might feel confused or embarrassed but it is very important to have a good relationship with your mom. if you do not have a mom, talk to your dad about seeing a therapist and talk to her about these things.you can also talk to your reproductive heath teacher. trust me i know it is kind of weird talking about these things with your dad but he will help. but parents need to remember that we maybe be confused about things and they might go too fast. make sure you tell them to SLOW DOWN! you need to know these things! i know what some of you people are saying, how would you know, you are my age too! i have had tons of experiences with talking to my mom and i have learned over the years. other good ideas is a bucket full of candy along with the journal. PARENTS: DO NOT MAKE YOUR KIDS TALK ABOUT THINGS THEY DO NOT WANT TO TALK ABOUT YET! they will come to you or just keep asking them once and a while.
