There are lots of great learning toys for toddlers to help them develop speech, communication, fine motor skills, socially, emotionally and physically.

The best learning toys are those that are really fun so toddlers are learning and enjoying it at the same time. Many of the educational toys featured are ones that my son loved and played with at 2 years old.

Read on for some top learning toys for 2 year olds below.

Alphabetic Magnets

I think the Leapfrog magnetic alphabet fridge magnets are a great learning toy for 2 year olds. My son used to play for ages with magnets on the fridge, it used to keep him occupied for quite a while so I could get things done in the kitchen at the same time. They are great for introducing phonics as there are playful phonics songs that make it easy to remember the sounds of the letters.

Melissa and Doug Food Cutting Box

I think this toy is great. 2 year olds can hone fine motors skill by cutting up the pretend food in this box. It contains 31 pieces. There's lots of educational activities that has been suggested when playing with this toy. Teach your toddler to identify each food and categorize it as a fruit, vegetable or grain. Its fantastic for introducing young children to the concepts of fractions and learning the words for halves, quarters and thirds and great for imaginative play too. Pretend to be a chef in a kitchen or prepare a picnic. The food makes a "crunch" sound when you cut it too!

A t ball set isn't a traditional learning toy but this is actually a great toy for developing hand and eye co-ordination, building confidence, having fun and developing physically.
