Thomas the Train Lego Sets

Thomas the train lego sets make great toys for toddlers and preschoolers. Lego is a great educational toy for this age group. It helps develop motor skills and generates lots of opportunities for creative and imaginative play. The Thomas the train lego sets also offer opportunities to act out Thomas stories the children have read in books and seen on DVDs.

Thomas the train lego sets are normally aimed at the 2 to 5 age group and are made of lego duplo. Lego Duplo are slightly bigger blocks which are perfect for little hands to grasp at and put together. But as they watch adults do it they will copy how it's done and will soon be doing most of it themselves. My son received his first lego duplo set for his 2nd birthday. At first we worked together to build structures but now at 2 1/2 he will sit down and build for some time on his own (giving me a few minutes to get things done!).

The Thomas Load and Carry train set is a great starter Thomas Lego Duplo set. There are 16 pieces of track which are really easy to assemble. It also includes Thomas and cargo tower with slide so you can open it to drop cargo, a signal, and station..  The set is aimed at 2 to 5 years and they will have great fun putting the track together which is great for honing fine motor skills. The track is easy to assemble but very young children may need to help at first. Once the track is built children will love using the lego for imaginative and creative play.

Of course, it is highly likely that you may want to expand the set to increase the opportunities for imaginative play and there are lots of options available (many of them listed below).
